Upshaw Dismissed

SEATTLE – University of Washington sophomore center Robert Upshaw has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules, head coach Lorenzo Romar announced on Monday. “We wish Rob well as he moves forward in his life, and we will do our best to support him in the future,” said Romar.

Romar, Washington players and other UW athletic department officials will have no further comment on the matter.

Upshaw transfered last year from Fresno State, where he played his freshman season. After sitting out the 2013-2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, the 7-foot Upshaw immediately made an impression this fall. for the Huskies as a rim protector extraordinaire, blocking 85 shots in 19 games. He averaged 10.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for the Huskies before his dismissal. He had four points, six rebounds, two blocks and one turnover in 27 minutes Sunday.
