Huskies Make Early Move On 2016 Texas DL

It's never too early to get a jump start on the 2016 recruiting class and that's exactly what the Huskies have done and, in particular, they have targeted an emerging star in the Lone Star State in Westside (Houston, Tx.) DL Jordan Elliot. Dawgman.com caught up with the multi-talented prospect recently and he updated us on things as his recruitment is just getting started...

"As of now, I have eight offers," Elliot told Dawgman.com. "I have offers from Cal,Baylor, Colorado State, Houston, Kansas, Kentucky, Tulsa and Washington."

Washington defensive line coach handles the Houston area for the Huskies and he was down there recently and extended the Washington offer to Elliot.

"I've talked to them for a while, but them actually saying that we'd like to offer you did shock me a little bit," Elliot said. "(Choate) is a cool guy I'm sure he's an even better coach. We are just getting to know each other better."

With his size and speed, Elliot, who earned First Team All-State honors as a junior, is sure to be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail and he's got several more programs eyeing his talents including Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech and several SEC programs as well.

"I see myself as a five-tech (outside shoulder of the tackle)," Elliot noted. "I feel my blend of speed and power can help me play tight off the tackles shoulder whether I'm going through or around him."

So, with all of his skills and the many schools coming after him already, is it realistic that Elliot could leave and that his parents would approve of him leaving the state/region?

"Neither me nor my parents have a problem with me leaving this area," Elliot said. "I'll play where God leads me."

Elliot is unsure what camps he'd like to hit this spring and summer, but said he hopes to take an official visit to Washington after his senior season is completed.

We'll have more on Elliot and his recruitment in the future as things begin to really heat up for him during the spring evaluation period.
