Local DL Prospect Will Walk-On At Washington

One local player who hasn't gotten much coverage as a prospect is Marysville (Wa.) Getchell DL John Clark. After a stellar senior season, he had offers from a couple of FCS programs as well as an FBS school, but he decided to fulfill his dream to play for the Dawgs and committed as a preferred walk-on during his official visit to Montlake this weekend...

"It was amazing. I had a great time," Clark told Dawgman.com shortly after he returned home from his visit. "They offered me as a preferred walk-on and I decided to commit to that and take them up on their offer."

Clark had several reasons to choose the Huskies over the offers he had in hand from the likes of Eastern Washington, Idaho State and UTEP.

"My mom went there, so I grew up a big Husky fan and I'm a local guy and it's always great to play for the local team and for my family to be able to see me play," Clark said. "It's been a dream of mine, since it started to look like I could play college football, that I would be able to possibly play for Washington and when they made me the offer to walk-on, I knew it was the right thing for me."

On his visit, Clark was hosted by sophomore DE Will Dissley and they also spent a lot of time hanging out with the other players as well.

"I got to know some of the guys. They were all great guys," Clark said. "I think the thing that stood out most to me was the vibe they had going there and also meeting with coach (Chris) Petersen.

"He's a great coach and you can see what he's building there. I wanted to be part of it."
