DawgmanTV: JaQuori McLaughlin

Dawgman.com’s Kim Grinolds and Aaron Beach headed out this weekend to Mount Rainier High School, where they were able to catch up with some of the area’s top prep basketball talent during the Rotary NETS AAU Tournament. Included was Washington’s lone 2016 verbal commit so far, Peninsula’s Jaquori McLaughlin, who plays his AAU ball for Team Access.

Here's some selected quotes:

Out there on an island being the only UW commit so far? - “A little bit. The class ahead of me, good class - so I feel like if I come in there’s a lot of pieces around me, so…”

What have you been up to? - “My year went good. I got first team 3A All-State, second-team All-State overall and first team All-Region. Went pretty good. Averaged about 24 points, five steals, five assists.”

What are your strengths? - “Just getting my teammates the ball, making the right decision - knocking down shots when I have to.”

Focus for AAU this summer? - “Just focus on getting my teammates involved, getting them looks.”

And you? - “Just getting stronger with the basketball.”

Do you go in the weight room at all? - “Yeah. After this basketball season I really started hitting the weight room. That’s really the first time, so…trying to get bigger.”
