Wattenberg recently announced that his top two schools were Washington and Duke.
The Huskies beat out the Blue Devils as well as UCLA, USC, Oregon State, Nebraska, Utah, Washington State and California.
Wattenberg and his family recently visited Montlake and came away impressed with Luke's father, Rob Wattenberg, telling Scout.com's Greg Biggins earlier this week that "Coach Petersen and that staff were really impressive and we know they’re going to be around for a while. There’s that same sense of school pride and loyalty. The environment was very comfortable for Luke. He’s a pretty quiet kid and very team oriented and that’s why these two schools kind of separated themselves from the rest."
The 6'5", 275-pounder becomes the third player to commit to Washington's 2016 class, joining Eastside Catholic (Sammamish, Wa.) ATH Brandon Wellington and Sehome (Bellingham, Wa.) S Taylor Rapp in that regard.
We hope to talk with Wattenberg later this evening and will post his thoughts on his decision once we speak with him.
