2015 UW NFL First Round Draft Preview

If Danny Shelton was a betting man, he may want to start checking out real estate along Lake Erie. For the 6-foot-2, 339-pound nose tackle from Auburn, Wash. - by way of the University of Washington - it’s clear the mock draft experts all think he stands a great chance of landing with the Cleveland Browns. But will they take Shelton with the No. 12 pick or the No. 19 pick?

As pro football fans get ready to see who their team is going to draft Thursday in Chicago, Danny Shelton will be in the Green Room…waiting, and hoping he doesn’t have to wait long for his name to be called. There will be some other Washington Huskies eager to hear their names called out Thursday night during the first round of the yearly NFL Draft - namely cornerback Marcus Peters, athlete Shaq Thompson, and defensive end Hau’oli Kikaha.

The draft analysts seem to think both Shelton and Peters are first-round locks. While Shelton is an almost unanimous pick for the Browns, Peters’ destination appears to be a lot more varied. Some have him in the early teens, like No. 14 to Miami - while others have him going as late as the very last pick of the first round, No. 32 to the New England Patriots.

And one notable mock draft, Pat Kirwan’s of CBSSports.com, has Thompson sneaking in at the end of the first round, No. 29 to the Indianapolis Colts.

If all three are taken in the first round, it would be the first time in the history of Washington Football. They’ve had two number-one selections three times, the latest in 1995 when Napoleon Kaufman and Mark Bruener were picked.
