UW Loses Ross To Injury, Kelly To Transfer

The University of Washington announced on Thursday that junior WR John Ross will miss the 2015 football season and that third-year sophomore CB Jermaine Kelly will transfer out at the end of the academic quarter…

Ross underwent surgery to repair two meniscus tears in his right knee back in January and then re-injured the same knee during the third week of spring practices last month.

The Long Beach (Ca.) native has totaled 33 receptions for 579 yards and five scores during his first two seasons as a receiver and he’s averaged 24.1 yards on 68 kick returns with three going for touchdowns.

With Ross out for the season, the Huskies will have just four scholarship receivers with playing time -- Jaydon Mickens, Marvin Hall, Dante Pettis and Brayden Lenius.

The Huskies also announced that Kelly will seek a transfer to another school after the academic quarter is completed next month.

Kelly redshirted during the 2013 season and then started the first two games of the 2014 season at corner before breaking his ankle and missing the rest of the season.
