"Most schools are telling me that they want to see me play a couple of games first," Dominic told Dawgman.com when talking about potential college suitors. With offers from Idaho and Portland State already in hand, he's hoping for more good news soon.
The phone was ringing off the hook at the Dixon household on Saturday. That was the first day college coaches could call prospective student-athletes, and Dominic's number was on a lot of speed dials that day.
"UCLA, ND, ASU, San Diego State, Dominic said, listing off the schools that called him that day. And the first? "UCLA was the first school to call, but I wasn't home."
Dixon's not too focused on recruiting right now, though. His attention is squarely set on another team named the Fighting Irish. They play Vancouver College this Friday in Vancouver, BC. "I don't know anything about them yet," Dominic said. "We have film study on Monday. I'm getting a little excited for it. I've been to Vancouver before."
Dom looks to improve on last year's team effort, one that got them to the State Semi-finals, where Reggie Williams' Lakes team tripped them up. He's also got a personal mark he's taking aim at. "I want to set the school record for interceptions this year," he said. "I was one off last year."
But true to his competitive nature, it wouldn't be enough to just make it to the championship game. "Yeah, it would be disappointing (to lose)," said Dixon.
"We just need to win it all."
