DawgmanTV: Jalen McDaniels in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Jalen McDaniels may get a little lost in the Seattle Rotary crowd, which you’d think would be tough for the 6-foot-9, 2016 forward prospect from Federal Way. But when you play on a team with Jaylen Nowell, Daejon Davis, Jashaun Agosto, Jalen King, and others - it’s easy to see why McDaniels might be considered the odd man out.

Dawgman.com’s Kim Grinolds spoke with McDaniels after Rotary’s 84-54 win over Arizona Warriors at the Bigfoot Hoops Las Vegas Classic. Here are some selected quotes.

What’s your height and weight right now? - “Six-nine, 185-190-pounds.”

Tell me about your game - “On defense I can guard one through four. On offense I can make open shots. For my size, handle the ball, dribble the ball well, rebound.”

What’s been the biggest improvement to your game the last few months? - “I think shooting, my shooting. At first I wasn’t as consistent, but now I’m a consistent shooter on three-point range for my size.”

What’s the rest of your summer like after Vegas? - “Probably late July take some visits to some colleges and then probably make my decision.”

Things picking up in recruiting? - “Yeah. Interest-wise, I have Texas, Colorado, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State. And offers I have Boise State, Montana State, Nebraska, Central Florida, Rice, and Utah State.”

Who are you talking to at Washington? - “I talk to Lorenzo Romar all the time. He always keeps in contact. We have a good relationship. I usually work out there with my trainer because they have open gyms that anybody can go to, so we go there. I’m familiar with them.”

Have they said anything about an offer? - “After this month. See how I play this month and then hopefully I’ll get an offer.”
