And with that announcement, Love made his commitment official via his twitter account.
"Yes sir, I just committed to U-Dub," a happy Love told Dawgman.com shortly after making his pronouncement on social media. "I called coach (Jimmy) Lake and told him I wanted to commit and he was fired up. He said he wished he could coach me this year.
"I also talked to coach (Keith) Bhonapha too and he was just as fired up. Both of them were excited, maybe even more excited than I am and I am really excited."
Love chose the Huskies over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon State and San Diego State.
"It really came down to Washington and Arizona State for me," Love said. "When I sat down and talked with my family though, especially my dad, everything just said Washington was the right place.
"The coaches are great, I loved the atmosphere there when I visited (back in the spring) and the program is on the rise. The whole thing with the school and the staff and the players and the coaches, plus it's in Seattle, I mean, it was just the right fit.
"My dad was like 'I knew that was where you wanted to go'. I just loved it up there when I went on my visit. It just felt like home. I was real close to committing back then, but I decided to just wait things out a while to make sure I made the right decision."
At nearly 6'2", Love fits the mold of the big corners that have become a mainstay in today's secondaries.
This past season, as a junior, Love totaled 31 tackles and six pass breakups for a team that went 12-3, making it all the way to the CIF Open Division Championship Game.
Love said he will set up his official visit to Montlake for either during or after his season is completed.
