Huskies Announce 2015-16 Non-Conference Sched

SEATTLE – The University of Washington men’s basketball non-conference schedule opens with a stacked slate as the Huskies will face 2015 NCAA Tournament teams Texas and Gonzaga in two of their first four outings. Overall, the Huskies will play in eight home contests and four neutral site games, head coach Lorenzo Romar announcedWednesday.

The Huskies kick off the season on Friday, November 13th with a historic matchup against the University of Texas in Shanghai, China. This game marks the first regular season game, professional or collegiate, to be played in China. The Longhorns will be led by first-year head coach Shaka Smart in the game which will be broadcast nationally on ESPN at 7 p.m. PT.

UW returns home to host two games the following week against Mount St. Mary’s on Thursday, November 19th and the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 21st.

Washington will open its side of the bracket against in-state rival Gonzaga (Nov. 25, ESPN), who advanced to the 2015 Elite Eight. The two squads have not faced off since December of 2006 and have shared the court 43 times in program history. Also on their side of the eight-team field, will be Texas and Texas A&M. The rest of the tournament features Michigan, Syracuse, UNC Charlotte and UConn, the 2014 NCAA Champions. Game times will be announced at a later date.
