VIDEO: WR Dante Pettis Post-Game: Boise State

Dawgman.com spoke post-game to Washington Receier Dante Pettis after the Huskies lost a heartbreaker in their season-opener, a 16-13 loss to Boise State Friday night at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho. Pettis had a 76-yard punt return for a touchdown in the loss.

On getting back to playing games “Good to be back to football. It’s not really a relief. Obviously we lost, so it’s not really like that.”

On Jake Browning's performance “It was good. Being a freshman, it was his first game, obviously there’s going to be a lot of stuff to work on, but he kept fighting. He’s a hard fighter, so he’s good.”

On if sticking to the game plan will pay off “Yeah, definitely, we just have to keep going back and forth. There wasn’t really anything that we did that I thought was really bad, it was just a matter of time before we broke something.”

On the defense giving them a chance in the second half “That was great. Our defense is really good; we see it everyday in practices. It just wasn’t enough today, I don’t know. Our offense, next week hopefully we can get some more going.”

On what went through his head on Cameron Van Winkle's missed kick “Just a little bit of disappointment, not in him, but kind of in myself. Obviously I had that catch on the side where I stepped out of bounds and came back in. I just have to be more aware of that, stuff that I feel like I could have done a little better.”

On the punt return “I had great blocks. Honestly I just ran around the corner. It wasn’t anything that special I feel like. It was a momentum shift. I try to bring a spark to the team.”
