VIDEO: Washington Safety Brian Clay - California Golden Bears

Washington senior safety Brian Clay talked to the media on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 as the Huskies prepare to take on the California Golden Bears this coming weekend in the first game of Pac-12 play for both teams.

On if the beginning of PAC-12 play generates new excitement “Yeah, there’s definitely a new excitement because PAC-12 is our conference and it’s a very good conference. We face a lot of good teams, so we’re definitely more excited for it.”

On Cal’s offense “They definitely have a good offense; a great offense actually led by Jared Goff. He’s a great quarterback with a very talented receiving corps and, as you mentioned, their running backs (Daniel Lasco) and (Khalfani Muhammad) are definitely good players. They keep it even balance pass and run. It’s going to be a task for our defense. Our inside seven, they need to win, and our perimeter guys, we need to win. It’s just a matter of us winning our individual battles.”

On what has been most pleasing about the performance of the secondary “What we’re most happy about is our ability to be interchangeable. We have a lot of guys being able to go in, play different positions, different corners, different packages, and just being interchangeable and the fact that we communicate well being so interchangeable. Everybody’s on the same page so we all know what we’re doing.”

On what it was like without Budda Baker at safety for most of the Utah State game “Honestly, the next man just stepped up and we just kept rolling. The game kept going and we just kept communicating like we did and playing the way we do.” Top Stories
