VIDEO: Washington Safety Budda Baker - Oregon Ducks

Washington safety Budda Baker spoke to the media Saturday night after the Huskies lost to Oregon 26-20 at Husky Stadium.

On if he thought the offense was going to score and take the lead “Of course I thought we were going to get it in and score and win the game. Then again, it’s all our faults really. For the defense, they put too many points on the field.”

On how close he was to blocking the last punt “I got real close. That was just like a time thing. Coach (Choate) was like ‘I just want you to blitz off the edge,’ so I tried it and almost got there.”

On Vernon Adams and his ability to extend plays and find the open guy “Exactly. He’s a great quarterback, able to extend plays for a long time. Us DB’s, we had a hard time plastering the receivers. He had a lot of time and just diced us down really.”

On Royce Freeman “Royce Freeman is a big back; a nice, real aggressive back. He was good.”

On Vernon Adams ability to keep plays alive “He’s a great quarterback able to extend plays for a while and keep us DB’s on our toes.”

On the frustration of Vernon Adams extending plays “As DB’s it’s very frustrating. He’s so good at running around and everything that all the DB’s have to plaster and face-guard our receivers and we had trouble doing that.”

On if he was surprised Oregon threw it on the final third down “Due to us watching film we kind of saw that they were going to do a roll-out or do what they did, so no.”

On if Oregon seemed slower this year than last year “Yeah, exactly. Of course they didn’t have Marcus Mariota, Heisman winner, but they had Vernon Adams, a guy who played at Eastern (Washington) and has his last year at Oregon. He did a great job.” Top Stories
