VIDEO: Washington Defensive Coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski Post-Game: Stanford Cardinal's Kim Grinolds spoke with Washington Defensive Coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski after the Huskies suffered their fourth loss of the season, 31-14 to the Stanford Cardinal.

On if it was tough on the defense to be on the field for that long “Yeah. It always is. Some of that is self-inflicted. We had some opportunities, a lot of opportunities on third down and second-and-long and we just couldn’t execute and couldn’t make the plays.”

On if he could sense his guys on defense were wearing down “I don’t know. I don’t think so. I think they competed and they kept plugging away. They’re a big, physical team. I think we can tackle better on (Christian McCaffrey). I’ll give that guy credit; he’s a good player, but we just have to worry about ourselves and what we can do to get better.”

On keeping Christian McCaffrey in check until the wheel route “Yeah, the wheel route. He’s a good player. Going into it that guy’s dialed in wherever he’s lined up. He battled. We lost him on that play. Obviously a big play.”

On if Keishawn Bierria is okay “I think he’s okay. He was not one hundred percent, but he tried to out there and battle. He didn’t practice a lot last week but he kept getting better as the week went along and we got what we got. Those guys go out and compete.”

On how much they missed Brian Clay in the first half “I thought the guys did pretty good in the first half. We always talk about the next guy up has got to carry the flag. I thought Jojo (McIntosh) and Zeke (Turner) did a good job in the first half.”

On Kevin Hogan “He’s good. He gets them the right plays. He had one turnover made, but he doesn’t turn the ball over and he operates there offense extremely well.” Top Stories
