VIDEO: Washington Defensive Coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski Post-Game - Utah Utes

Washington Defensive Coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski talked about the defensive effort and breakdowns after the Huskies lost to the No. 13 Utah Utes 34-23 Saturday night at Husky Stadium.

On what the game plan was going into today “We were going to start stopping (Devontae) Booker in the run and play tight coverage behind it so they couldn’t throw one of the run-pass options. That was basically the game plan.”

On if they showed on film that they relied on Travis Wilson’s legs late in games “Oh yeah. Definitely. That’s his deal. When it’s time to make a play, he makes plays. Yeah. It’s a classic example of guys trying to do too much and not do their job and he made some plays out there.”

On how much of it was Travis Wilson making plays and how much was a defensive breakdown “It’s a combination of both. We made it too easy for him on a couple.”

On his overall sense on the defensive play today “I think tackling wise it hasn’t been as good as we have been in the last few weeks. I don’t care if we turn the ball over seven times, it’s our job to go out there and stop them and hold them to field goals and we didn’t do that well enough. For the most part other than the tackling and a couple breakdowns at the end of the game when Wilson made some plays and then our tackling on Booker at the end there wasn’t like it was earlier.” Top Stories
