VIDEO: Washington Cornerback Sidney Jones Post-Game - Apple Cup

Dawgman.com spoke post-game with Washington Cornerback Sidney Jones, who had six tackles and a 69-yard pick-six as the Huskies destroyed No. 20 Washington State 45-10 in the 108th Apple Cup, played Friday at Husky Stadium.

On his interception return for a touchdown “It was a stick call. That means I have the flat. I wasn’t in my deep half. I was just tight, so I had the flat. I just triggered and picked the ball off when he threw my way.”

On what his thoughts were when he made that interception “I was like ‘oh, touchdown. No one is in front of me.’”

On the progression of the secondary since last year “Last year has been big. Everybody is taking that next step. We’re taking that next step as a group. We’re losing (Brian) Clay, but we have some guys that will step in and take over. We just progressed throughout the whole year.”

On if the defense took pride in limiting this offense “It was huge for our defense and our defensive backs. Holding them to 10 points, they usually run up the score and have high scoring games. That was an accomplishment for us.”

On if the defensive play start to get to Peyton Bender “I’m not sure about that.”

On how big his touchdown in determining the output “It put us up. It was pretty big.”

On what he saw on the play “I saw the receiver sat it down and I had the flat so I just triggered on the ball and picked it.”
