"Coach (Bush) Hamdan and I talked today and he said he's been looking at my film and following me since he took the job back in December, so for like four months now, and he said he really liked the way I play and that he liked my measurables," Cook told Dawgman.com shortly after receiving the offer. "He said he just wanted me to know they liked me a lot and he wanted to make it official by offering me."
So with the Huskies joining UCLA, Hawaii, Arizona, Cal, Washington State, Nevada, Oregon State, San Jose State and Utah, where does that leave things?
"The offer is huge," Cook said. "I went up there (to Seattle) back in November when they played Utah and, other than the loss, I loved everything about the trip.
"The facilities were off-the-hook, the city of Seattle is amazing and I loved the staff there. I really respect coach (Chris) Petersen and what he's about and I like the program there and all that it has to offer, so they are one of my favorites and they will be at the top of my list until I make my decision."
Other schools who are making early impressions on Cook include UCLA, Arizona and Oregon, should they offer.
"If Oregon offers, and I get the feeling they could be pretty close, then they will be up there for me too," Cook said. "I grew up loving UCLA, they have always been a favorite school of mine and Arizona is a school that has been after me for a while."
As far as when he wants to make his decision, Cook admitted he hasn't narrowed down a date, but he thinks he could make a decision before his senior season and then take official visits during or after his senior season.
"Honestly, I am not really sure when I will make a decision, but I'm thinking it might be before my season," Cook said. "I still want to take my official visits though and I know Washington will be one of the schools I take an official visit to.
"I want to head up for their game against Stanford. That game should be huge and I'd love to be around that atmosphere and see that game."
When he is ready to make his decision, Cook said there are a couple of things he'll be looking for when he chooses a school.
"The first thing is, academics. Does it have my major (engineering)? Thank God Washington is a great engineering school," Cook noted. "Also, I want to make sure I have a good comfort-level wherever I end up. Can I see myself being there four or five years? That's about it."
We'll have more on Cook in the future as he continues to work his way through the recruiting process and we will update news on him as it happens.
