"The trip exceeded my expectations," Neilon said. "I had a great time. The practice was mostly focused on the details since it was the first practice. Coach (Chris) Strausser really pays attention to all the details and knows his schemes and techniques.
"The coaches stood out for sure. Just how they prepare you for life after football and genuinely care about you."
Neilon has offers from schools across the country including Cal, a school he visited on Wednesday, and Michigan, the program he will visit today.
"I don't necessarily have a top five yet, but Washington definitely moved up my list," Neilon noted. "I still need to take this visit to Michigan and then I will start to figure out where things stand (with my favorites list)."
Neilon said he hopes to make a decision at some point before his senior season, but he won't rush things.
"If it feels right then yes, I will make an early decision," Neilon said. "Right now though, the plan is sometime during the summer."
While his timeline is still a ways out, Neilon has begun to think about the things he will look for in the school he winds up choosing.
"A big thing will be how I fit in with the team. You know, the vibe I get from them," Neilon said. "The other parts are the combination of football and academics. I want the whole package -- great football and great academics."
We'll have more from Neilon after he wraps up his visits and we will update news on him as it happens.
