Washington tailback Dwayne Washington proved his doubters wrong when he was taken by Detroit in the seventh round of the NFL Draft

When he left, many questioned the wisdom of leaving early, but on the final day of the 2016 NFL Draft, Husky junior tailback Dwayne Washington was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the 236th overall pick...

Washington signed with the Huskies in 2012 as a wide receiver out of Gahr High School in Cerritos, California.

Shortly after his first season at UW, the Husky coaching staff moved Washington to tailback where he spent the past three seasons, amassing 1,311 yards and 17 touchdowns to go along with 41 receptions for 411 yards and four more scores.

Washington struggled with injuries this past season, losing his starting job to freshman Myles Gaskin.

Shortly after missing the Huskies' bowl game win, Washington declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft.
