Getting To Know You - Kamari Pleasant
Height and Weight? - "Right now, 6-1, 190."
What have you been up to this offseason (workouts, etc.)? - "Just explosion, speed, getting faster - and my route running."
How many offers did you have? - "I had eight, but then I picked up one more but didn't say nothing about it. So nine total.
Besides Washington, what other schools were after you really hard? - "At the time, it was ASU, Fresno...dang! I forgot all about this!" (laughs)
If not Washington, then what school would you have chosen? - "Yeah, it would have been ASU."
Why did you choose Washington? - "Because that was my dream school, one. And then, so much coaching. And I got a good vibe from all the players and the program, so I trust everybody. I felt like it was the place for me and I fit in that program and I could make noise early."
What did you enjoy about the recruiting process? - "Everybody treats you like you're a celebrity. That was pretty cool, going through that. And just knowing that everything I was working for was paying off when I did get offered."
What did you hate about the recruiting process? - "Nah, other than the fact that people are always in your ear - but that comes with just being the person that you are. If you're a guy with a name, of course somebody is always going to try and have a say-so, control some type of thing in your life. That just comes with it, but there's nothing wrong with that."
Funny story/anecdote from the recruiting process? - "I was at ASU and some frat guy, he was running and he had no shirt on. He was screaming all crazy because they had won. It was at night time and he was by Jack In The Box. I guess he wanted Jack In The Box? He was running and he fell right in front of their door. He either blacked out or passed out. It was crazy! I was like 'whoa!'."
What are you going to miss when you enroll at UW? - "Obviously my family, but other than that I don't really know. All my friends will be in college too. We're all on the same type of route. We're all in college. I've got a lot of homies that are going to UCLA, ASU, Oregon, and stuff."
Assuming you have talked with the UW staff, what have they said about where you'll play once you get to UW? - "They want me to play receiver and running back. They are excited for me to get up there as a true freshman. If I stay consistent and focused...obviously I'm going to do that. That was the last thing they told me last time I saw them (at the University of Redlands camp)."
What kind of car do you drive? - "Well...(laughs) I had a Honda. A black Honda. But my mom totaled it. The day before I went to UCLA versus Oregon, she totaled it. She didn't tell me until I got to the game because she knew I wouldn't have gone. She wanted me to be successful so she wanted me to still be there and handle my business. I'll probably just get a car after the season."
What's your favorite movie? - "Favorite movie? Of all-time? I'll say Space Jam."
What's your favorite CD/music on your ipod right now? - "Drake. Drake and Lil Uzi (Vert)."
What's your favorite kind of food? - "I'll say favorite food would be some type of seafood. I love seafood."
