On the win “The coaches came from Ohio State and Houston and we didn’t really know what they were going to do, but we had a basic plan of what they were going to do. It was all about reading our keys, basic technique, and just being verbal.”

How much of a surprise was Rutgers’ offensive plan? “It wasn’t that different at all. Our coaches did a good job of mapping a good game plan for us. We used that to the best of our ability. We didn’t know what we were going to get actually. We just played our technique.”

How big was the first stop? “That’s our goal, especially as our defense. We always want three and outs. We don’t want any first downs. That’s just a goal of ours.”

On trying for a shutout “We tried. It’s alright, we’ll get it.”

How nice was it to finally play? “First game, we got that in the books. It’s just a good energy. Walking out there and it’s always that first game is full of fun and energy and that anxiety of wanting to be on the field. We did a good job today. I’m proud of my fellas.”
