On the mindset of improving “Yeah. I think that.”

On his effectiveness up the middle “It was just, this week coach Malloe told me stick to the bull rush and that’s what I focused on in practice all week, just bull rushing so I can be locked into it in the game.”

How did it feel to get your way after a while? “It felt good. It felt good obviously coming out like that.”

Does it seem like you’ve been here a while? “Yeah, if you think about it. Time flies. It feels like I’ve been here for a while. If you look back at it it’s not that long.”

Does getting the first game done make the second one easier? “Yeah. We feel way more comfortable coming out and playing. Just playing and having fun out there on the field.”

On Connor O’Brien’s touchdown ‘That was amazing. I thought that was amazing. It was funny because me and Greg (Gaines) were sitting there and I was like ‘I bet you we get a pick six this play.’ Next thing you know we’re watching the big screen and we see Connor O’Brien pick the ball off and we were like ‘oh no!’ Greg looks at me like ‘you called it.’ He runs off in the end zone and half our team runs on the field. WE were really hyped for that one.”

On Brandon Wellington returning kicks as a linebacker “That’s amazing, especially him being a freshman, true freshman, coming in like that and showing a lot of promise.”

You ran the ball a little bit in high school? “That was back in my skinnier days.”

Are you asking coach Petersen to get some carries? “No. I’ve bugged him a few times. I don’t know if he’s going to consider it.”
