Post Game Video - Jonathan Smith

Here's what Husky offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith had to say following Washington's 41-0 win over Portland State...

What was the game plan going in? “We wanted to mix it. We wanted the emphasis to be able to run the ball a little bit, but obviously you’re not going to just sit there and hand it off every time. I thought Jake (Browning) came out prepared and did some good things at the line of scrimmage on some plays that got us in the right play and made a difference. Overall, we were pleased.”

Was it nice to see some bigger runs finally breakthrough? “That was. I thought overall we had some guys making guys miss and that was nice. I like to mix the thing and we were happy with it.”

How do you feel like you’re prepared for PAC-12 play? “I feel like we’re progressing. There’s still a good amount to clean up. I’m disappointed on the penalty end. We had some tough penalties that got us behind the sticks a little bit, but we’re progressing. We’re going need to improve if we’re going to have the type of year that we want.”

On Chico McClatcher’s versatility “Yeah, he does. He’s done a great job of developing as a receiver. He has a game that we can be multiple with him. Fly sweep, hand him the ball in the backfield, but he’s developed as a receiver and I thought he played really well tonight.” Top Stories
