Gaskin: no better feeling than proving it

Dawgman.com spoke Wednesday with Washington sophomore running back Myles Gaskin, who talked about the tough win at Utah and how the Huskies relish playing in those ‘prove it’ games. They have another one coming up Saturday at California.

Does a tight road win like that give you anymore confidence? “It’s just one of those things - kind of one of those feelings where you know you can but it’s good to prove it. We always talk about that’s the type of game that we like. When you play a team that goes down to the wire it brings the best out of both teams. It’s one of those things that make you better as a team and shows you a lot of things you can work too. It was a good experience.”

On his spin move “It’s one of those things where you see everything work and if it doesn’t you try it again. But it worked, so that was cool.”

On getting stronger as the year goes on “Yeah. Like I said, the o-line, they just do their thing and as the year goes on they get better each and every week. I started off slow, but that’s all fault to myself. I just needed to pick up on some things. The o-line makes things easy. I really appreciate those guys.”

What are you doing better now? “Lot of things. A lot of film study and those types of things. Kind of just go back to fundamentals. Not try to do too much. Just do your job.”

What does coach Petersen mean when he says Myles is just doing his thing again? “Just kind of getting your own vibe, getting your own head. Just kind of one of those things that just flow with you. ‘I’m just playing my game; I’m not worried about anything else. I’m not trying to make these big runs or anything, it just happens.’ It’s just one of those things where you just vibe with it.”

On Cal’s defense “They’re a tough squad. They’re very disciplined. They stay in their gaps. Very sound. It’s going to be a good game and they’re going to come ready to play. We still watch a lot of film on those so I’m not totally sure on everything, but they’re a tough team. We’re not letting up for anything. It’s going to be an exciting matchup and we’re going over to their house. They’re a good team."
