On the loss “We didn’t execute the way we wanted to. That showed. We had a good game plan coming in. We just didn’t get the right things done.”

Did you feel like you had momentum after scoring first? “I wouldn’t say we had things figured out. We just got the ball out quick and made some good plays and after that they kind of changed up their defense a little bit, started doing a little different things. We didn’t have enough time to really sit back and run the routes we wanted to.”

What did coach Petersen say after the game? “Just how proud he is of us. Before the season people were like ‘oh, they might win nine games or something. They might do something good.’ He was proud of how we fought. That’s pretty much it.”

Can you appreciate 12 wins right now? “I don’t know. It’s hard to appreciate anything after a loss, especially a game like this. We have such high hopes. I don’t know how long that’s going to take, but it is kind of hard to appreciate something like that after this.”

How good was the Alabama defense? “Best we’ve seen. Their front seven puts a lot of pressure on the quarterback and makes it hard for the receivers - I guess the quarterback to sit in the pocket and let the receivers get open.”

It looked like there was nowhere to throw the ball “They did a lot of cover two man. When you have a front seven like that you can afford to just rush however many, five, and just sit back and let things come to them.”

On his touchdown “It was just a double move. He was sitting pretty hard on it. I kind of new that’s what would happen, so I just gave him a quick little stutter. I saw the ball up in the air. That’s pretty much it.”

On the scuffle at the end “I don’t know. I wasn’t out there. I was out of the game. I couldn’t really tell you what happened.”
