Is the linebacker corps better this year with the experience and depth? “Absolutely. We have some guys back and we’re always getting better. That’s another year under our belts. More mature, better leaders. We’ve been grinding in every type of way. Having all our guys back and everybody healthy, it’s a blessing. We’re ready to go.”

Is the Peach Bowl motivation or forgotten? “That’s something we’ve been through. No matter what you carry that with you. That journey, you don’t just forget about that. But you definitely want to set your goals higher and if not, make it back to that game. We always know, got that in our mindset, we’re always trying to be better than what we did. That’s last year. It’s a new year. We have a different goal.”

On the mentality this spring “Absolutely. I feel like every time I step on this field and it’s time to start competing it just completely changes. It’s a totally different vibe than last year, but I feel like we have something special.”

How is this spring different? “I don’t know how I can really put it into words, but it’s just something you feel. It’s not something you can really just talk about. When you look at everybody, we have younger guys stepping into roles they haven’t played. It’s just special. We have a lot of young guys, great talent coming in. That competition level. We have a bunch of young, hungry guys out there that are just trying to ball. It’s totally different.”

Did you give Azeem Victor a hard time for that dropped interception? “Absolutely. And I’m probably going to stay on that until he catches another one. That’s just something we do. That’s the competitive side of us. But we’re always trying to have fun with it.”

Did he have to pushups? “He knocked out some pushups for sure. I didn’t count them, but somebody for sure did.”
