Brewer Enjoys UW Visit

2018 Corvallis (Or.) OL Marco Brewer made his way north to Montlake on Wednesday to check out one of the Huskies' spring practices and he updated on how things went and where things stand on the recruiting front with him...

"It was a great visit. I had a really good time there," Brewer said. "It was really great watching the Washington players really enjoying themselves at practice. You can tell they just love to compete and play and also be with the family they have built there, so that was something that really stood out to me."

After practice, Brewer got a chance to spend some time with new offensive line coach Scott Huff.

"It was great to talk to him and catch up," Brewer said. "He and I actually were at a camp together a year or so ago and he was injured, so he couldn't really do the drill he was trying to get us to do, so he showed us once and then he had me do it and because I did it exactly like he wanted me to do it, he had everyone follow my lead and if they didn't get it down, I had to show them how to do it right.

"I reminded him about that he remembered me and so that was pretty cool."

While Brewer was hoping for an offer, Huff explained his evaluation process.

"Obviously, I would have loved to get one, but I wasn't expecting one," Brewer said. "When coach Huff was talking to me, he said that film can lie to you and that a big thing for me and their evaluation of me will be how I do at the (Dirt Dawgs) camp this summer.

"I love to compete and I feel confident in what I can do, so I have no problem coming up and showing the coaches what I can do. They haven't set the date yet because they are waiting for the NCAA to make a ruling on the dates when camps can be held, but once they set it, I am planning on coming up for it."

Brewer had hoped to stay in town for Washington's practice on Friday, but instead, he's decided he'll head over to Spokane to check out Eastern Washington for the day before making the 60-minute drive to Pullman for Washington State's Junior Day on Saturday.

"I'm also planning to go to Oregon on the 14th and the 22nd (of April) and possibly their spring game," Brewer added. "I am also headed to the Rivals camp in Los Angeles on the 9th (of April) and then I will check out UCLA on the 10th and USC on the 11th and I will possibly visit UC-Davis too."

Brewer currently holds offers from Massachusetts and Nevada, but he's a rising prospect on several FBS schools' radars and he could see things pick up in the coming weeks and months.

We'll continue to check in with Brewer and we will update news on him as it happens. Top Stories
