Husky Offer "Exciting" For Bynum

It was a whirlwind weekend for Wilsonville (Or.) DL Draco Bynum who visited Montlake over the weekend and left with an offer from the Dawgs...

"Washington has always been one of my top schools and when they offered (on Friday) it was really exciting," Bynum told Dawgman.com shortly after leaving campus after taking part in UW's Junior Day. "I had been up there before, last year, so I had already sorta gotten the 'Built For Life' presentation, but they still touched on it a little bit and talked about how they're a family up there and stuff like that.

"This visit was more about me getting the chance to sit down with the coaches, especially coach (Ikaika) Malloe and coach (Chris) Petersen and getting to meet some of the players."

One of the players Bynum met was defensive tackle Greg Gaines.

"He's a good guy," Bynum said. "He talked about being versatile and that's what the coaches really value in the players they recruit.

"Coach Malloe also talked about how he could see me playing almost anywhere (along the line) depending on how big I get."

He also got a chance to watch practice on Saturday.

"That was really great to see," Bynum noted. "I mean, in high school, sometimes you are just out there practicing because that's what you have to do.

"Those guys, there wasn't any standing around and they made a great use of the time.

"You can also tell everything they do has a purpose and the player just love to practice and compete."

Bynum said he's not ready to make an announcement on a list of favorites and said that he still got two more visits in mind before the end of the spring.

"I definitely want to get out and see Nebraska and Duke," Bynum said. "I am visit Nebraska next weekend for their spring game. I've heard a lot about it out there and I really want to see it for myself.

"I am not sure if I will narrow things down or anything like that because I don't want a school not to pursue me because they think I am down to 10 or five schools or whatever.

"I am wide open and I want to take my time and make sure that I give every school that is interested in me time to recruit me and offer me and show me what their school and program has to offer."

As a junior last year, Bynum finished with 82 tackles, 19 tackles-for-loss and 10 sacks from his spot along the defensive line while hauling in 10 receptions for 224 yards and two touchdowns on offense.
