Does it feel like you’ve been here a long time?
“It does. I’ve been here a while. I’ve been here five years. It’s been a long time, it’s been a long time coming. It’s been a long journey. I appreciate every moment of it.”
Is there more urgency for you this year?
“You could say that. I feel like a lot of people would say their senior year they step everything up but I’ve been trying to do that since I got back from my injury. I’ve been trying to step it up ever since then, get back on the field as soon as possible.”
Do you feel back to full form after the injury?
“The injury, it gave me time to think about what I really wanted, what I really wanted to achieve on and off the football field. I think that set my mind right. I got to press pause a little bit and just go with the flow. I got good rehab from the trainers and I think they set me up for greatness in there and now I’m on a roll.”
How have you improved at run blocking?
“I’ve gotten lower in my blocking. I’ve sunk my butt into my hips, great knee bend. During rehab just working on running mechanics and just getting my knees right.”
On the tight end room
“It’s great. There’s been a lot of great faces come and gone through that room. Everyone who comes through the room brings a little something that they leave behind, and we try to carry on that legacy that they’ve left. We try to get on each other when something’s wrong and get on each other when something’s right. It’s a small, tight-knit family in there. THat’s what I love. It’s a small room, but we’re very tight nit.”
