McKinley Very Happy About UW Offer

Washington continued their foray into the Lonestar State on Friday when they offered 2018 Hebron (Lewisville, Tx.) CB Verone McKinley III and he said the offer is a big one for him...

"Washington is a big offer for me," McKinely told Dawgman.com. "They went to the college football playoff, but I have actually been interested in them since Marcus Peters was there, so I've liked them for a while."

He went on.

"I also just love how aggressive they are and how their defensive backs have played," McKinley noted. "It doesn't hurt that Sidney Jones and Kevin King went early in the second round. They are really tough and they develop their guys there."

The list of McKinley's offers is too long to print in this story, but suffice it to say, he's got close to 40 with his latest coming from OregonTennessee and Washington State.

The Huskies got in at the right time because McKinley had hoped to narrow his list down a little with a decision coming by the end of July.

"I'm glad they offered because, like I said, I've been interested in them for a while and I was planning to narrow things down, but now with these new offers, I've gotta try and get out and see some of them," McKinley said.

A visit to Montlake is one he's planning to make, so he's got to talk to his parents about the best time to make it up to check things out.

"My parents are paying for it, so obviously I have to check with them and my mom will need to get up there to meet with the coaches and sorta give her approval, so I want both of them to go too," McKinley added.

As far as what he's looking for from the school he chooses, McKinley had a list of things off the top of his head.

"Atmosphere will be a big thing for me," McKinley said. "I also want to feel comfortable with the coaches and the other players and have that family feel.

"Obviously, I also want to check out the academics and get a feel for what their communications department is like and see how that can help me get a job in the future once football is over with."

McKinley is a top 300 prospect on Scout.com and rated the 22nd best corner in the country.

Dawgman.com will have more with him in the coming weeks as he continues to work his way through the recruiting process.
