When people talk about the quiet before the storm, they could have been speaking of Montlake Thursday afternoon, where things around the football offices and lockerrooms appeared to be going as usual. But underneath the surface lay bubbles of excitement and anticipation. All the groundwork has been laid. All the preparation is nearly complete. And all Washington head coach Keith Gilbertson has to worry about is which guys will be available to line up against USC Saturday afternoon.

"Rich (Alexis) will go some today," Gilbertson said. "He'll get some snaps."

The decision to start Alexis appears to be one Gilbertson will make at game-time. Whether Rich starts or not, he will be on a limited work-load, along with Tusi Sa'au and Joe Toledo.

Ben Bandel, who has started for Toledo at the tight end spot since the third week of the season, will again start on Saturday.

Gilbertson noted that Zach Tuiasosopo appears to be back to full health, but they are waiting on Roc Alexander's shoulder stingers to determine how much he'll play against the Trojans.

There may be another starting switch, as Garth Erickson did not punt Wednesday, suffering from a hamstring pull. True frosh Sean Douglas took all the snaps and looks to be ready to go if needed. He's already started every game of the season as the Huskies' kick-off specialist.

"Sean kicked all day yesterday, and kicked very well," Gilbertson said. "He's got a really strong leg."
