Husky linebacker out for USC

Kai Ellis, the projected starting outside linebacker for Saturday's game against USC, underwent surgery earlier this week on both knees to repair torn cartilage, Husky Head Coach Rick Neuheisel reported.

Ellis had started all three games for the Huskies this season. He had 19 tackles, 13 unassisted, and had two tackles for loss.

In his place, redshirt freshman Zach Tuiasosopo will start at the "Rush End Backer" position. In the first three games Tuiasosopo has six tackles.

Coach Neuheisel is optimistic that Ellis can return sooner than expected. The type of surgery he had normally requires a four-week rehabiliation period, meaning he would return for the Stanford game. Top Stories
