Dawgman.com Predictions

Well, here it is. A must-win game to avoid the end of the non-losing record streak, an opportunity for the Huskies to shatter the Cougars' dreams of playing in a second consecutive Rose Bowl and how about just a game for the Dawgs to compete and end the season on somewhat of a high note. Are they up to the task?

Kim Grinolds, Business Operations. Record: 7-4.

With all the external stuff flying around, with all the distractions, and as poorly as the Dawgs are playing, there's no way they will win this game. So history will repeat itself...........WSU will " Coug it."

Prediction: Dawgs 24, Cougars 23

Joe Kaiser, Columnist. Record: 7-4.

Prediction: WSU 31, Washington 14

Dawn Van Diest, Sports Washington. Record: 7-4. In a tribute to Mike Price and, in an effort to challenge and totally confuse the referees, the Cougs throw backward passes the entire game. And, without Kai Ellis complicating those plays, the Pullman Posse gets their revenge.

Prediction: Cougars 35, Dawgs 17

Derek Johnson, Columnist. Record: 7-4.

To paraphrase Dylan Thomas:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Losing seasons should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light...

Prediction: WSU 34, Washington 20

Chris Fetters, Editor. Record: 7-4.

No logic involved here, and when it's an Apple Cup, it's almost better not to look at the win-loss records.

Prediction: Washington 35, WSU 21

Pat Thrapp, Columnist. Record: 6-5.
I really have no idea how to pick this game. I think the only ones that can are going to be on the field this Saturday. I sure hope it is our guys. This will be the last time to see some players in person for me. Guys like Reggie Williams, Rich Alexis, Cody Pickett, and others. After witnessing this season, I can't in all honesty pick the Dawgs to win this Saturday. I really hope they do, but I think this will be a loss in the end.

Prediction: WSU 38, Washington 20

David Samek, Publisher. Record: 6-5.Washington is playing its final game of the season for their seniors. There is some division on this team between the upperclassmen and the youngsters, and it needs to get solved. It won't get solved before Saturday, and even if it did, I'm not sure that Washington could compete with WSU right now. The Cougars have a five-year streak they'd love to end, and I think they'll do it in Husky Stadium Saturday.

WSU 41, Washington 21

Race Bannon, Columnist. Record: 6-5.
The kids are alright. It turns out it is the adults we need to worry about. Team Turmoil laces it up for one more time against their long-time patsies, the Cougs. Is UW so weakened and distracted that WSU could actually win the game?

Silly Cougars, it's the Apple Cup, it's in the Northwest, and the Huskies are going to win. Go Players!

The University of Washington – 48
Washington State College – 28

Rick Samek, Columnist. Record: 5-6. At this point, does anyone even want to play this game? Well, the Cougars sure do. It should be a fine pre-bowl scrimmage for the Crimson and Gray, with 30,000 or so liked-dressed supporters reveling on the Huskies' turf and in the Huskies' misery. Look out Georgia Tech and Cumberland – your 87-year old record could be going down. For hell hath no fury like a Neuheisel scorned. They say that the ex-captain of a mutinied ship is allowed one bullet to use – either on himself or at his adversary as a final, salutary, and defiant gesture. It would seem that the one Washington issued to Rick Neuheisel contains in the neighborhood of 40 megatons. From the smoldering ashes that was once known as Husky Stadium ...

Prediction: WSU 223, Washington 0

Henry Han, Intern. Record: 5-6. As hard as we tried, we just couldn't get Henry to make a prediction on the game. Either he was worried about jinxing the Dawgs, or was just too ashamed to show his face after he realized he was tied for last place in the prediction standings…. Don't worry Henry, we know you would've picked the Dawgs anyway….

Prediction: Washington 40, WSU 3

Dick Baird, Columnist. Record: 5-6. Washington State is a good football team, and is gunning for their third straight season with 10 wins. That is something to be proud of. Washington's season is pretty much gone, and it's difficult to keep the glass half full. But I always find a way to do it, and so will the Dawgs on Saturday.

Prediction: Washington 23, WSU 20
