CA linebacker down to four

Alan Darlin is a 6-1, 225-pound linebacker prospect from Elk Grove (Calif.) Laguna Creek and Darlin has narrowed his college choices to four.

"We lost our first-round playoff game Friday night," he told Monday night.

"I was happy with how I played. I think I made an improvement over last season. Our team played really hard. We finished up 9-1 in the regular season. We won the Delta League championship. I was happy with how we did."

Recruiting has come sharply into focus for Alan. "I've narrowed it down to four schools," he said. "They are Washington, Oregon State (1/9), Nebraska and Fresno State (12/19).

The Cornhuskers are the one school Darlin is looking at not on the west coast. "They want me to come in and play special teams for a couple of years and learn the program and do what I can to help out the team," he said.

And the Huskies? "They want me to come in and either play fullback or linebacker." His preference is linebacker.

He professes to having no leader at this time, with the visits providing the catalyst for his eventual decision. "I'm going to wait until I go on all my visits and then make my decision after that," said Darlin.
