Dawgs get more beef

Jovon O'Connor, a 6-5 295 pound offensive linemen from Los Angeles High School, has given an oral commitment to play for the Washington Huskies. He chose the Huskies over Arizona, Fresno State, Oregon, and Washington State.

Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds spoke with O'Connor this evening.

"I committed today," he told Grinolds. "I committed to coach (Keith) Gilbertson. He was really excited about it."

O'Connor is a laid back kid, but it wasn't hard to hear the enthusiasm in his voice. "I feel REALLY good about it. My parents were really proud of me."

Coach Gilbertson told O'Connor that he would fit in very well on the Husky offensive line. "They are recruiting me to play offensive tackle. That's fine with me."

When asked what he wanted Husky fans to know, O'Connor replied, "That I'm a good kid. I'm ready to bring back a bowl."

O'Connor is Washington's 11th verbal commit this year for Washington, and the 5th offensive lineman to verbal for this class.
