Long time coming: Goldson to UW

It's been a long time coming for Coffeyville (Kansas) Safety prospect Dashon Goldson. First there was his signing with the University of Washington out of high school, then the disappointment of not being able to enroll. Then, after two short years at Coffeyville, the dream has once again become reality for Goldson. Tuesday night, he came full circle and is a Dawg once again.

"I made my decision, I'm going to USC," Goldson told Dawgman.com Tuesday night with a laugh. "I'm just kidding ... I'm going to Washington. I called the coaches earlier today to let them know. I feel pretty good about it. No more reporters for a while."

Dashon spent the last few days with his family, sorting out the issues of his commitment. Ultimately the decision came down to the Huskies and Trojans. "They feel relieved," Goldson said when asked about his parents feelings. "They feel pretty good too. We sat down last night and talked about it and we just knew that Washington was the best place for me."

Goldson is especially looking forward to getting a chance to show what he's got in front of 75,000 Husky fans. He already saw what can happen when the Dawgs came back to win the Apple Cup during his official visit.

"I've never played in front of that many people before, but I can't wait," he said. "It's like a dream. I want all the fans to come out and watch the games."

And his number? Don't confuse him with Kenny James. "I want to wear number 8," said Goldson.
