DL Haloti Ngata Update

One of the top defensive linemen in the country is Haloti Ngata from Highland, Utah. The 6-4 300 pounder is still looking hard at both Washington and Nebraska, the only two schools he's visited thus far.

On the field his team recently dropped a tough game to Murray High School. "We lost 19-7, but I played really good. Our team is 2-4 right now" he said sounding disappointed.

Haloti has recovered three fumbles and caused two of them on the season thus far. He uses his incredible quickness to chase ball carriers and make them pay. He projects as an outstanding three-technique or nose guard in college because of his low center of gravity and his incredibly quick feet and hips.

He enjoyed his visit to Seattle. "I really do like Washington. I like the scenery up there a lot. The environment and town are nice. So are the players," said Ngata.

"I enjoyed getting to know Khalif Barnes and William Kava," he said of the two current UW linemen who help host Ngata on his official visit to Seattle.

"They had big choices to make like I did, and they chose Washington because of Coach Neuheisel. He's a good coach. I'd call him a player coach, he's very good with players."

After the game Ngata enjoyed meeting with the players and coaches. "I saw Neuheisel talk to the team and it was great."

Ngata is still pondering Nebraska and Washington, but does have three trips available to him if he wishes to pursue them. The last time we spoke he said that he was hoping to discuss things with his coach and make up his mind probably in December. We'll see if that timetable sticks over the next few weeks.
