Washington A.D. Announces Retirement

Washington athletic director Barbara Hedges announced today that she will retire effective January 16. An interim appointment will be named to replace Hedges while a national search begins to find her successor.

"I have given a great deal of consideration to this decision and it feels like the right time to retire," says Hedges. "Our department has made tremendous strides, both academically and athletically, over the years due to the efforts of the student-athletes, coaches, and support staff, and I would like to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication. Without their efforts, our program would not be the success that it is today. Hopefully, we made things better for those student-athletes who wore the Purple and the Gold.
