The Huskies' 45-point victory margin was the largest in series history, while Washington's 95 points were the most scored by any Pac-10 team this season.
Freshman Breanne Watson led Washington (9-7, 2-5) with a career-high 22 points, connecting on nine of 12 shots. Senior Giuliana Mendiola added 19
points, to go with 10 rebounds and six assists, while senior Andrea Lalum finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
After struggling on the glass in last weekend's losses, Washington outrebounded Oregon (9-7, 1-5) by a 56-32 margin. Freshman Jill Bell, who finished
with 13 boards, matched Giuliana Mendiola with double-figures on the glass, an individual feat that had been accomplished just four times all season
entering Thursday's game.
Early on, the game tipped Oregon's way, as the Ducks jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening minutes. A three-pointer by Mendiola put the Huskies on
the board, and consecutive baskets by Watson ignited a 14-0 UW run. Washington held Oregon without a field goal for 5:40 early in the half, and again
for 6:07 just before halftime, closing the half on a 31-7 run to take a 47-17 advantage at the break.
The Huskies forced 12 Oregon turnovers in the first half, while outrebounding the Ducks by a 27-13 margin. The second half featured much of the same
for the Huskies, who with the win snapped a three-game Pac-10 losing streak, and extended to three their streak of victories in the UW-UO series.
Washington will remain at home to face Oregon State on Saturday at 6 p.m., in a game to be televised live by Fox Sports Northwest.
