Washington Sinks Sun Devils 90-81

SEATTLE (AP) - Tre Simmons came off the bench and scored a career-high 21 points, including 17 in the first half, and the Washington Huskies won their fourth straight Pac-10 game by beating Arizona State 90-81 Saturday night.

The Huskies (9-8, 4-5 Pac-10) ended a three-game losing streak against the Sun Devils (8-10, 2-7) and completed a sweep of the Arizona schools for the first time since the 1998-99 season. The Huskies beat ninth-ranked Arizona 96-83 Thursday night.

Simmons, a junior college transfer whose previous high at Washington was 18 points against Eastern Washington this season, shot 7-for-10 from the floor.

Will Conroy added 17 points, including 11 in the final 4:40 after Arizona State closed to within 73-67. Brandon Roy had 15 points and Bobby Jones added 11 for Washington.

Nate Robinson, the star of the Arizona victory for the Huskies with a career-high 31 points, was limited to eight points.

Ike Diogu had 23 points and Jamal Hill added 21 for the Sun Devils.

Washington led 41-36 at halftime after jumping out to a 12-0 lead in the first 4:10. Arizona State didn't get its first basket until 4:54 was gone when Diogu scored on a fastbreak dunk.

The Sun Devils missed their first seven shots and committed four turnovers before their first basket. They never got closer than 3 points after that. The Huskies' 12-0 run included a dunk by Jensen on a pass from Conroy.

It was an emotional game, with five technical fouls being called.

With 5:17 gone, Robinson and Arizona State's Tron Smith, playing with a face mask because he is recovering from a broken nose, had to be separated. Robinson and Smith were charged with technical fouls, and Smith also was called for a personal foul on the play.

With 6:02 left and the Huskies ahead 73-62, the officials whistled technicals against Washington's Anthony Washington and Will Conroy, and Arizona State's Allen Morill when Washington and Morill had to be separated. Washington was charged with a flagrant technical and he was disqualified.

With the score 73-67 in favor of the Huskies, Conroy hit the biggest basket of the game, a 3-pointer with 4:40 to go and Roy added two free throws to put Washington on top 78-67 with 3:41 to play.

The Huskies outrebounded Arizona State 40-29.
