Carson safety still solid to Washington

With all the rumors floating around, it seemed like the best thing to do was go straight to the source. We asked Chet Sanders if he was still committed to UW a few days ago, and he said yes. And the rumors persisted. So we once again called up the 6-foot-1, 185-pound safety from Carson, California to see if anything had changed.

"Nah," Sanders told Sunday night. "They (USC) came over to my school, Pete Carroll came over to my school and talked to me a little bit. They were my childhood favorite, but Washington has been there since I was hurt and USC is just coming on now.

"USC has not offered a scholarship. I'm not changing my mind. I'm solid with Washington and when the time comes to sign that paper, that's going to be it. Everybody's been calling me, but nothing's happening. I'm going to pick Washington."

Is the constant phone ringing and answering the same questions getting to Chet with only three days to go? "I'm having a great time," Sanders said with a laugh. "I'm not worried about anything. I'm committed to Washington and I want to go be a Husky."
