Recruiting redux for Rashaad

As Yogi Berra would say, 'It's deja vu all over again.' Rashaad Goodrum, a 6-4, 230-pound defensive end/linebacker from Los Angeles (Calif.) Valley College, is back on the recruiting block after becoming ineligible this spring. Two schools are fighting tooth and nail for his signature on a scholarship letter, and it's the same two teams that were duking it out for his letter of intent just a few months ago.

"I was up there this weekend, checking it out," Goodrum told Monday when asked about his visit to Washington for their Spring Game. "I just wanted to reconfirm my decision, see what everything is looking like."

So was that decision to attend Washington reconfirmed? "I'm in-between two schools," Rashaad said. "I had some trouble with my classes, so I was ineligible to go. That's where I'm at right now. I'm taking a class."

The Huskies are doing everything in their power to get Goodrum back in the fold, but another Pac-10 school is not going to give up on their chances.

"They are just saying the same thing as Washington," Goodrum said when asked about his other leader, USC. "They both want me to make a decision and both want me and need me. Nothing's changed."

Rashaad will finish up his current quarter on June 2nd, hopefully with an AA in tow. No timeline has been set for a final decision. "Right now I don't know, I'm undecided," Goodrum said. "I'm going to look at both schools and see what situation is best for me."

Rashaad spent some time with UW head coach Keith Gilbertson this weekend. Did his time with Gilby do anything to alter the decision-making process for the junior-to-be defensive standout?

"He said he was happy to see me," said Goodrum. "He just wanted me to take a good look at what was going on at practice to help me make my decision. It was interesting. I liked what I saw, but I still need to figure out what I want to do."
