Wallace to announce Monday

Dawgman.com spoke Friday with Toledo Head Coach Scott Merzoian, who shed some light on the recruitment of his top player, F/C prospect Artem Wallace. Despite reports of Wallace's verbal commitment to Washington, Merzoian believes Wallace is headed there as well. But it's not a done deal.

"I think he's ready to go there," Merzoian said. "But right now he's taking the weekend to absorb his visit to Washington, get away from everybody and think about things. He'll make his statement on Monday."

Merzoian added that Artem is '90-some percent' sure he's going to UW. "I briefly spoke with him this morning before he left (for the Pangos All-American Camp in Cypress, California). He told me that he's leaning heavily but wants to wait until Monday."

One of the main reasons for Artem's interest spike stems from his official visit to Seattle, which ended Thursday.

"He really enjoyed his trip there, he was really excited about it," Merzoian said. "He was already very comfortable with the coaches. They have been there for Artem from the begining.

"He's very comfortable with what he wants to do academically up there and he's comfortable with the other guys on the team too."
