O'Keith Getting Ready for Official Visit

Just recently, Marcus O'Keith had all the answers. He knew what was at hand and he knew what it was going to take to make sure he made the right decision about his future college choice. This week things look a little cloudier, but that hasn't stopped Marcus from still calling Washington his leader.

"Things are basically the same," the 6-1, 180-pound tailback told Dawgman.com today when asked if he was nearing a verbal commitment to play for the Huskies. "I'd say it's 50 percent now. I just started thinking about things and I know now that I need to take some other trips. Then I'll know."

That hasn't stopped Washington from putting three coaches on him in hopes that a triple-team might get his attention. "I've talked to Coach Alford, Coach Williams and Coach Neuheisel. They keep asking about my season and how I'm doing. They talk to my family too."

Coach Williams made a trip to Harbor City, California to see O'Keith, lineman Alex Potasi and safety Dashon Goldson. "He just came by to talk to us and to make sure everything is set up for our official visit," said O'Keith. All three will visit Washington starting December 7th. "He just told us how excited he is that we're coming up and that he really wants us to go there." The Husky linebackers coach has also set up in-home visits with O'Keith and Goldson for this coming Monday night.

Of all the coaches recruiting him, Marcus feels as close to Williams as any of them. "Coach Williams has been watching me since I was a sophomore," he said. "I didn't get to talk to him until last year, but I always knew he was out there watching me and I've really gotten to know him well. I like him a lot."

Marcus and his Narbonne teammates are well into the playoffs and are gettting ready for San Fernando this Friday. They beat Bell 20-14 last weekend, and O'Keith had one of his better days as a senior, rushing for 180 yards and scoring twice. He now is over the 1000-yard mark for the season. "Dashon took an interception for a touchdown in that game too," O'Keith is quick to add.

Is there a chance O'Keith, Goldson and Narbonne lineman Alex Potasi might all end up in Seattle? "We might all go to the same school, but Alex is looking at other schools right now and wants to take his trips," he said.

"Basically I just want to make sure I fit in up there, make sure I feel comfortable with everything," O'Keith said," when asked what he'll be looking for at Washington. Will it be enough for him to make a verbal commitment on his trip? "I could commit, but I would need to come home and talk to my parents about it first." Marcus' parents will be making the trip to Seattle with Marcus so they can see everything for themselves.

UCLA, Notre Dame, Arizona or Oregon are the other schools Marcus is considering for official visits and all have offered scholarships.

We'll be in touch with Marcus after his official visit to Washington.
