Roburt Sallie to Washington

The Sacramento-to-Montlake pipeline grows. Saturday, Kim Grinolds spoke with Sacramento (Calif.) Valley SG Roburt Sallie, and Robert announced to him that he had verbally committed to Lorenzo Romar and the Washington Huskies two weeks ago.

"Yeah, I committed to them," Roburt said. "I like the program and I know Zach Johnson really well."

Johnson, a 6-9 PF from Sacramento (Calif.) Natomas, signed with the Huskies this past season and will be joining them this fall.

At the time of his commitment, Sallie had one other offer, from Oregon State.

Sallie was the Delta League MVP in 2003 and an All-Metro selection the last two seasons, averaging 21.5 points. He helped the Vikings win consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section titles and appear in two NorCal finals.

The Sacramento Bee initially reported that Sallie would attend Maine Central Institute, but Sallie said that he'll be attending Laurinburg Prep in North Carolina. Roburt has opted to attend prep school rather than a community college so he can improve his GPA and test scores and not lose college eligibility.

Harvey Perry, another UW commit, will also attend prep school in 2004, going to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire instead.

Perry's Arizona Magic Blue team will be taking on Sallie's Play Hard Play Smart squad tonight during the Reebok Big Time tournament. Sallie is averaging 29 points per game so far in the Big Time, and had 32 this morning.

"He's tall, lean, and is athletic as hell," said Grinolds. Top Stories
