Toeaina Set to Take Trips

Albert Toeaina is a 6-6, 340-pound offensive lineman from Pittsburg, California, and he can't wait to get his official visit schedule underway. He just took his SAT test last Saturday and now he's ready to have some fun. It's a schedule that will take him as far north as Seattle and possibly as far south as Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

"I'm going to Washington this weekend," Albert told "I'm going to Fresno State next weekend. Then Oregon State on January 11th. I'm going to either LSU or USC on January 4th. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do about that weekend. All of his favorites have offered scholarships.

Husky Defensive Coordinator Tim Hundley is the one recruiting Toeaina for the Dawgs, but Head Coach Rick Neuheisel has taken an active role in Albert's recruitment. "I love that guy," Albert said when talking about Neuheisel. "We talk a lot about football, but we talk about everything else too. The last time we talked he told me, 'When we win the Rose Bowl again I'll be telling you, 'I told you so!''". (laughs)

Dennis Erickson is very much involved in recruiting Albert for Oregon State. "Coach Erickson is cool too, but he's got a serious side," Toeaina said.

Being of Polynesian descent, Albert knows that ultimately his decision will be a group one. "Everything is about the family," he said. "It will be a family decision. My Dad wants me to go to USC and my mom wants me to go to Fresno State, because it's close."

The meeting of the minds should be one for the ages, as Albert is looking north as the school of his choice right now. "Washington is definitely number one right now," he said. "They are just big time, know what I'm saying? They have great academics and everything."

We'll be in touch with Albert after his visit to Washington. Top Stories
