Walker Sets Sights on Two

Clayton Walker goes to Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the 6-4, 270-pound Walker is looking forward now that Horizon is out of the state playoffs. Walker and his teammates lost a tough game last weekend.

"We lost in the semis to Red Mountain last Friday 30-17," Walker told Dawgman.com. "We were ahead 17-10 at the half and we drove down 90 yards at the start of the second half. We had a touchdown called back on a holding penalty and then fumbled on the next play, a screen pass."

Clayton wasn't able to give us any stats, but is expecting some post-season awards. "Our banquet is next Thursday," he said. "That's where we get our season stats. I think I'll get OL MVP."

Walker is knee-deep into recruiting, and it's getting better and better for him every week. "Coach Neuheisel visited yesterday," Walker said. "He was with Coach Axman. It was a good visit. It was very relaxed. It's the first time I'd met Coach Neuheisel in person. He's a nice guy. They talked a while about football at Washington, what it's like to be a Husky."

Any more in-home visits? "Coach (Brent) Myers came by on the very first day they could visit. Coach Dickey from Arizona came the next day. Arizona State was here last Sunday."

Clayton has offers from Washington, UCLA, ASU, Arizona, Colorado State, Oregon State, Wyoming and Washington State. He has almost finalized his visit schedule. "I'm visiting UCLA this weekend," he said. "Washington on December 14th, Oregon State on January 11th and ASU on January 18th. I'm going to try and visit Colorado State somewhere in there."

While Clayton is quick to point out that he's not eliminating any options right now, he did admit that two teams have caught his fancy - the Huskies and Bruins. I'm looking at Washington and UCLA the heaviest right now," he said. "I'm not going to make any decisions until I visit them at the very least."

Here are Walker's thoughts on his leaders.

UCLA - "They've really turned up the recruiting on me. I grew up in California and they have a good program."

Washington - "Everything I've heard and seen about them has been great. And I love the way they've recruited me. They've come right at me. They were the first to offer, the first to visit me and Coach Neuheisel was the first Head Coach to visit me. That's a big deal."
