Solomona Up in the Air

Chris Solomona, a 6-5, 285-pound defensive tackle from El Camino College in Torrance, California was supposed to take an official visit to Kansas State this weekend, but decided against going their and instead took care of some schoolwork instead.

"I'm pretty open right now and am looking mostly at Washington, Arizona and Oregon," Solomona told today. "I really think that it's going to come down to Washington and Arizona."

Even with that mindset, Chris still is reporting interest in taking official visits to Oregon and BYU. If those schools aren't really in the running according to him, why take those trips? "Well, I really need to make sure I finish the process, take all the trips I can and explore all of my options," Solomona said. "Because I've only got two years to play in college, I really feel like I have to look at every aspect of a school - the depth chart, the chance to start right away, the school, everything. I owe it to myself to check those things out. It was a lot different coming out of high school."

With that being said, Chris feels that the Wildcats and Huskies offer the best opportunity for him with the time he has left. "I really liked Arizona when I visited," he said. "It is a lot closer to where I live. I really liked the atmosphere there and the city of Tucson. I like the campus a lot and the people there were great. I would say that they matched Washington in what I was looking for." Solomona originally signed with the Dawgs out of San Pedro High School in 2000.

Since Chris will be graduating in the summer, he won't be signing on Wednesday. He'll instead need to wait until the normal Letter of Intent Day on February 6th. "In the end, it will be my decision to make," he said. Top Stories
