O'Keith Switches Trips

Marcus O'Keith is a 6-0 180-pound running back prospect from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California. Marcus was supposed to take an official visit to Wisconsin with teammates Dashon Goldson and Alex Potasi, but O'Keith and Potasi did an about face and tripped to UCLA instead.

"I had a great time on my trip," O'Keith said last night. "Our hosts were Ricky Manning and Tyler Ebell. I've been there before, but the coaches showed me a lot of love this time around, which was important to me. They were telling me that I could come in right away and compete for the starting job."

What did the two from Narbonne do in Westwood? "We just hung out a lot, went to some parties and drove out to the Rose Bowl. That was nice."

His quick decision to visit the Bruins this weekend might be a portent of things to come for O'Keith. "I'm thinking I might want to stay close to home," he said. "I know Marcedes Lewis and some of the other local players that have already committed. It might be cool to stay and play with them. After my Washington trip, they were my leaders, but after my trip this weekend, UCLA might lead a little now. But really, I could see myself playing for both schools. Washington is pushing me the hardest for a commitment right now."

Marcus is also hearing from the new coach in Berkeley. "Coach (Jeff) Tedford called me and he sounded real interested. I'm going to visit there on January 11th with Alex. Oregon's been recruiting me too, but I'm not interested in them. I've just never had a good vibe about them. I won't make any decision at all until after my Cal trip."
